Viv's Travel Tips: Islands to Visit Right Now
Posted on 03/17/2021Has the recent warmer weather gotten you daydreaming about sitting out in the sun this summer? Or perhaps recalling the last time you sat on a beach, drinking in the warm breeze… for most of us, that was likely over a year ago. But you can get your summer here early by planning a trip to one of these exotic islands. Because they naturally are more isolated, they have been able to manage COVID cases better than other areas. These Caribbean destinations have the perfect amount of sun and safety to satisfy your summer cravings!
Jamaica
With the Caribbean being a popular choice for trips right now, Jamaica stands out as a great option for some clear water and relaxation. Jamaica has established procedures to keep locals and visitors safe, so that people can still enjoy the good weather on the island. "Within the resilient corridor, the tourism service delivery operators permitted to accept guests have been inspected and are compliant with the required standards of training, protective equipment and processes," according to Visit Jamaica. "All employees and patrons of these facilities are required to observe the established protocols of hand hygiene, social/physical distancing and wearing of masks in public spaces." Tourists also need to present a negative COVID-19 test result produced no more than 10 days from their travel date in order to obtain their required Travel Authorization document.

Aruba
Aruba, also in the Caribbean but actually part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, has reopened to tourism with enhanced health and safety protocols in place, including a five-component process for entry that requires that visitors ages 15+ provide a negative COVID-19 molecular test taken within 72 hours of travel. Crime here is relatively low, and Aruba has seen fewer coronavirus cases and less COVID-related deaths than other vacation spots, as of mid-February. With your mind at ease, you will truly be able to take in the gorgeous views and personality this island has to offer.

Saint Lucia
The enchanting Eastern Caribbean island of Saint Lucia has reopened to travelers who can show proof of a negative COVID-19 test result taken no more than five days before arrival, as well as reservations at a COVID-19 approved accommodation. Staying at a resort is the safest way to go, and Saint Lucia offers a variety of options, including a plethora of luxury and boutique choices. Once you are laying poolside at an all-inclusive resort, the stresses of the last year will melt right away
